Natural versus Synthetic
Natural products are supposed to always have some extra quality that synthetic products don't have. Our modern lives contain a vast array of products, some natural, some synthetic. Much of modern living would not be possible without the technology and man made products that surround us. The debate of Natural versus Synthetic is often a matter of the individual subject.
For many the improved quality of synthetic fur easily outweighs the ethical issues surrounding the production of natural fur, yet for most people natural leather has no substitute. Foods are an area where we automatically search for natural over synthetic and become deeply suspicious of anything that seems manufactured. One of the areas we take special care of are E numbers. Many of these E numbers are natural products that have been given a standardised quality. In response to consumer concerns many manufacturers have reverted to using the name of an ingredient rather than its associated E number.
Natural candles are a growing industry in the UK as people become aware of the issues of pollutants released from traditional paraffin candles. More people are looking for candles that not only use natural wax, but also use natural essential oils to create the scents. But there can be a problem with certain natural essential oils that should not be used for candle scents, perfumes or massage oils. Some of these are; Clary Sage, Sage, Camphor and Wintergreen.
When we make a choice of Natural versus Synthetic there are lots of considerations. Modern living for even the most natural lifestyle relies on manmade homes, electronics and transport. Natural products do not always have a beneficial quality for humans. No body would consider using Deadly Nightshade as a scent for a candle, but natural wax and essential oils are rapidly gaining popularity as they do not produce the chemical pollutions that paraffin wax with synthetic scents have been proven to emit.
