Rituals.

Rituals are an ancient way of connecting to a higher power for help and guidance. Your own beliefs will dictate to what higher power your ritual is dedicated to.
Rituals create a portal in front of you to connect you to the spirit world. If you create them often enough you will forge a rapport with the spirits. During the ritual you create representations in your mind of the situations and events you wish to pass in the real world.
Historical records dating as far back as 4,500 BC show people have consistantly used spices and plants in rituals and sacrifices to various Gods, Goddesses, Spirits and Ancestors. These same plants and spices have also been used in various medicinal preperations. Ancient Egyptians thought so highly of the oils they extracted they buried them with their Pharoahs for use in the next life. Romans added oils to their baths to ward off fatal illnesses. In ancient times the Greeks believed that scented plants had sprouted from the Gods and Goddesses and that inhaling them would heal them.
Many rituals use the Moon's energy to increase their effectiveness. The lunar cycle involves phases of increasing and decreasing. As the Moon increases from New to Full Moon the waxing energy draws abundance to you and as it wanes back to the Dark Moon the energy aids banishments.
Many people use rituals on a regular basis today. These include all modern major religions, people practising ancient belief systems and those with a personal spiritual belief.
Rituals can be very complex and intricate. They can also be very simple. Here are a few examples you can try.

    •  Use the candle as an offering to your God as you say a prayer.

    •  Use the candle flame as a focus as you concentrate on a wish.

    •  Repeat a mantra using the candle's scent to aid your concentration.
